Cloud Platform

Everything you need to run your farm, in one place. Fields, workers, irrigation, livestock, compliance — accessible from anywhere.

One platform for the whole operation

No more spreadsheets, no more paper registers, no more guesswork. The cloud platform is where everything lives — from the boundaries of your fields to the certifications of your operators, from the soil-moisture reading in block 4 to the harvest bin that left the packhouse this morning.

It’s purpose-built for South African agriculture: SIZA, GlobalG.A.P., SD13 labour compliance, ICAR livestock standards — all in the bones.

What’s in it

Farm & field management

Set up your farm structure once and use it across every part of the platform. Draw field boundaries on a satellite map — area and perimeter calculate automatically. Subdivide orchards and vineyards into blocks with cultivar, plant year, row count, spacing. Every spray record, harvest bin and scouting report links back to a specific field or block, so traceability is built in from the start.

Mapping & geospatial intelligence

Every hectare of your farm lives on a real map, not a flat table. AnyFarm is built on PostGIS — the same spatial database that powers the maps you use every day — to store, query and analyse your farm’s geography.

  • Draw field and block boundaries on satellite imagery, stored as polygons with sub-metre (WGS84/GPS) accuracy
  • See the whole operation on one interactive map — boundaries, zones, device locations and survey tracks layered together
  • Spray-coverage analysis — GPS tracks are buffered into coverage polygons and intersected with field boundaries to compute exact coverage, missed area and overlap
  • Automatic spatial context — a clock-in or device fix is matched to the right farm, field and block by point-in-polygon query, no manual selection
  • Area, perimeter, zone-volume and nearest-neighbour calculations done in the database

Why it matters: your maps are queryable data, not static images — ask “which fields were sprayed this week” and get a spatial answer. Accurate boundaries mean accurate application rates, water budgets and yields.

Crop & cultivar library

A built-in reference database of crops, pests, diseases, and agrochemicals — pre-loaded with South African data and ready to use on day one. Look up Pre-Harvest Intervals (PHI) and Re-Entry Intervals (REI) before you spray. Check approved dosages. Stop guessing about application rates.

Scouting & field surveys

Record what you see in the field — pests, diseases, soil conditions, boundaries — with GPS tracks and structured observations. Run boundary surveys, soil sampling, penetrometer readings or pest/disease scouting. GPS tracks prove you actually walked the field (important for audits and certification).

Spray coverage & quality control

Know exactly where your sprayer went, how much it covered, and whether the job was done properly — before you sign off. Coverage maps with gaps and overlaps highlighted. QC workflow with supervisor sign-off. Approved sessions automatically create compliance records with full chemical traceability.

Why it matters: Catch missed patches before pests take hold — not after damage is done. Reduce chemical waste from overlap spraying (typically 10–20% overapplication). Every spray event is audit-ready.

Compliance & activity records

Every field operation recorded, with automatic PHI/REI calculations and a full audit trail for SIZA, GlobalG.A.P., and food safety certification. The system warns you when a PHI window is closing within 3 days.

Why it matters: PHI violations can result in rejected loads and fines of R50 000+ per incident. Audit preparation drops from weeks to hours.

Worker & labour management

Manage your farm team — permanent, seasonal, and casual — with certifications, expiry reminders, and permission-based access to equipment and chemical stores. Link permissions to required certifications (no P-number = no access to restricted chemicals).

Time & attendance

Clock workers in and out with GPS verification. Hours, breaks and piece counts tracked automatically. SD13 compliance built in — ordinary hours, overtime at 1.5×, Sunday and public-holiday work at 2×, weekly and monthly summaries ready for payroll export.

Harvest & produce traceability

Track every bin from the picker’s hands to the packhouse. Barcode, QR or RFID per bin. Picker attribution. Gross/tare/net weights. Quality grading against commodity standards (citrus, apples, grapes, deciduous, tropical, vegetables). Full chain-of-custody from Field → Receiving → Grading → Packing → Storage → Shipped.

Why it matters: Instant recall capability — if a retailer flags a problem, trace it back to the specific picker, block and date in minutes, not days.

Livestock management

Complete animal lifecycle following ICAR standards. Visual ID (ear tag), electronic ID (RFID ISO 11784/11785), brand mark. Parentage, reproduction, health, measurement, production, movement and management events. Paddock rotation with LSU-days. Production tracking for milk, wool and eggs.

IoT & smart sensors

Soil moisture at depth, weather stations, flow meters, pressure sensors, spray trackers — all monitored in real time with alerts when something needs attention. 868 MHz long-range radio for field sensors; Bluetooth for close-range probes and commissioning.

Time-series sensor data engine

Thousands of readings a day need more than a regular database. AnyFarm uses TimescaleDB — a time-series engine on top of PostgreSQL — to store, compress and query high-frequency sensor data at scale.

  • Node readings, irrigation sensors, centre-pivot telemetry and weather — every value timestamped and tied to a sensor and location
  • Stored in time-partitioned hypertables built for high-volume inserts and fast range queries
  • Automatic hourly and daily rollups, so charting a whole season renders in seconds instead of scanning millions of rows
  • Three-tier retention: raw data, rolled-up summaries, then compressed archives for long-term analysis

Why it matters: 100 sensors reading every 5 minutes is 10M+ rows a year. TimescaleDB handles it comfortably — and scales to thousands of sensors across many gateways without redesigning the data layer.

Irrigation management

Precision irrigation with smart scheduling, weather integration, and automated valve control — so every drop counts. Fixed timer, soil moisture triggered, ET-based deficit, or partial root-zone drying. FAO-56 Penman-Monteith ET₀ with crop-specific Kc coefficients. Load- shedding aware scheduling — set which hours irrigation is allowed.

Why it matters: Smart scheduling based on actual crop water demand can reduce water consumption by 15–30% compared to guesswork. Every litre is tracked for water-licence compliance and SIZA audits.

Equipment & fleet management

Vehicles (tractors, trucks, bakkies, harvesters, sprayers, etc.) and implements (29 types, from ploughs to balers) with service intervals, worker assignments and operation logs. Service-due alerts prevent breakdowns during critical periods.

Inventory & stock control

Seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, fuel, feed, spare parts — with reorder alerts so you never run short at the wrong time. Agrochemical stock records reconcile against your spray records.

Team & organisation

Invite your team by email, assign one of five roles (Owner, Admin, Manager, Operator, Viewer), and control who sees what. Manage multiple farms under one organisation; workers and data shared across the operation.

Dashboard & reporting

A single screen showing the health of your entire operation: what needs attention right now and what’s on track. Farms, fields, workers, equipment, IoT, irrigation, spraying, produce, crops, livestock, compliance and weather — all in one view. An Attention Required section surfaces critical alerts, devices gone offline, spray sessions awaiting QC, PHI deadlines, low stock.
